Terms of Service

Last updated: 29 August 2026

Welcome to AURA.

These Terms of Service govern your use of the AURA online store, including browsing our website, placing an order and purchasing our products.

By using our website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms of Service.

These Terms are subject to applicable South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).

Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit, exclude or waive any consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be limited, excluded or waived under South African law.

1. About AURA

AURA is an online retailer selling hair-styling products to customers in South Africa.

2. Using Our Website

You may use our website for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

You must not:

  • Use the website for any unlawful purpose;

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our website, systems or accounts;

  • Interfere with the operation or security of the website;

  • Introduce malicious software, code or other harmful material;

  • Copy, reproduce or commercially exploit our website content without permission; or

  • Use information obtained from the website for fraudulent or unlawful purposes.

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to the website where reasonably necessary to protect our website, business, customers or other users, subject to applicable law.

3. Products

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, specifications and other information displayed on our website are accurate and up to date.

However, product images may vary slightly from the physical product due to photography, lighting, screen settings or manufacturing variations.

You should read the product description and any applicable instructions before purchasing or using a product.

Nothing in our product descriptions limits your statutory rights under South African consumer law.

4. Product Safety and Instructions

AURA products should only be used for their intended purpose and in accordance with the applicable product instructions and safety information.

Because some AURA products are heated electrical styling devices, customers should take appropriate care when using them.

Customers should:

  • Follow all supplied operating instructions;

  • Keep heated surfaces away from skin and flammable materials;

  • Keep electrical components away from water unless the product is specifically designed to be used with water;

  • Keep the product away from children unless otherwise appropriate;

  • Stop using the product if it appears damaged or unsafe; and

  • Not attempt unauthorised repairs or modifications.

Where product-specific safety instructions are supplied, those instructions should be followed.

Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory rights relating to unsafe or defective goods.

5. Prices

All prices displayed on our website are stated in South African Rand (ZAR) unless otherwise indicated.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that prices are displayed correctly.

If an obvious pricing error occurs, we may contact you before fulfilling the order to clarify the correct price or provide you with the applicable options permitted by law.

Any applicable taxes, delivery charges or other costs will be displayed or communicated as required before you complete your purchase.

6. Placing an Order

When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase the selected products.

After placing an order, you will receive an electronic acknowledgement confirming that we have received your order.

An order acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that the order has been accepted for fulfilment.

Where applicable, an order will be accepted when we confirm that the order has been accepted and/or dispatch or otherwise fulfil the order.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order where permitted by law, including where:

  • A product is unavailable;

  • There is an obvious pricing or product-information error;

  • We reasonably suspect fraudulent activity; or

  • Fulfilment is not reasonably possible.

If we cancel an order after payment has been received, we will refund the applicable amount paid.

7. Payment

Payment must be completed using the payment methods made available during checkout.

You confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method provided.

We may use third-party payment providers to securely process payments.

AURA does not intentionally retain complete payment-card information where payment processing is handled by an authorised third-party payment provider.

8. Delivery

We currently deliver orders within South Africa.

Orders are generally dispatched within 2 business days.

Estimated delivery is generally 3–7 business days after dispatch, depending on the delivery location and courier service.

Delivery estimates are not guaranteed delivery dates unless expressly stated otherwise.

Delivery may take longer during periods of unusually high order volumes, public holidays, severe weather, courier disruptions or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Where applicable, delivery information and any delivery charges will be displayed during checkout.

9. Risk and Delivery

AURA will take reasonable steps to ensure that orders are properly packaged and handed to the applicable delivery provider.

Nothing in these Terms removes any rights or remedies you may have under applicable consumer law if goods are lost, damaged, defective or otherwise fail to comply with statutory requirements.

10. Returns and Refunds

Returns and refunds are governed by our Return & Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

AURA provides a voluntary 30-day money-back guarantee, subject to the terms of that guarantee.

You may also have statutory rights under South African law, including rights relating to defective, unsafe or poor-quality goods and applicable electronic transactions.

For full details, please refer to our Return & Refund Policy.

11. Consumer Protection Act

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or waive any rights that you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

Where applicable, consumers retain their statutory rights relating to the quality, safety, durability and suitability of goods.

Where goods qualify for a statutory remedy, the applicable remedy will be determined in accordance with South African law.

12. Electronic Communications and Transactions

Our website is an electronic-commerce platform and certain transactions may be governed by the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.

We will provide information required by applicable law concerning electronic transactions, including relevant product, pricing, payment and delivery information.

Where a statutory cooling-off right applies to an electronic transaction, that right will apply subject to the requirements and exceptions contained in the ECTA.

13. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the content appearing on the AURA website, including:

  • Logos;

  • Brand names;

  • Product photography;

  • Graphics;

  • Written content;

  • Page designs;

  • Product descriptions; and

  • Other original material

You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, sell or commercially exploit our content without our prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

14. User Content

If you voluntarily submit a review, photograph, video, testimonial or other content to AURA, you confirm that:

  • You have the necessary rights to submit the content;

  • The content does not unlawfully infringe another person's rights; and

  • The content is not knowingly false, fraudulent or unlawful.

Where you provide content for publication, you grant AURA permission to use that content for legitimate business and marketing purposes, subject to applicable law and any permissions separately required.

AURA may remove user-generated content where reasonably necessary, including where it is unlawful, misleading, abusive, fraudulent or unrelated to the relevant product.

15. Privacy

Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By using our website and providing personal information, you acknowledge that your information may be processed for purposes including:

  • Processing and fulfilling orders;

  • Processing payments;

  • Delivering products;

  • Providing customer support;

  • Communicating with you about your order; and

  • Other purposes permitted by applicable law.

AURA will process personal information in accordance with applicable South African privacy legislation.

16. Third-Party Services

Our website may use third-party services such as payment providers, courier companies, analytics providers and other technology providers.

Those services may have their own terms and privacy policies.

AURA is not responsible for independent third-party websites or services to the extent that they operate outside AURA's control, subject to any rights you have under applicable law.

17. Website Availability

We aim to keep the AURA website available and functioning properly.

However, we do not guarantee that the website will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free or free from technical problems.

The website may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical issues, security measures or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

18. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful under South African law.

Subject to applicable law, AURA will not be responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable or that arise from circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in this section limits statutory consumer rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited.

19. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

AURA will not be responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters;

  • Severe weather;

  • Courier disruptions;

  • Internet or telecommunications failures;

  • Power outages;

  • Government action;

  • Strikes or labour disruptions;

  • Civil disturbances; or

  • Other events outside our reasonable control.

Where such an event affects your order, we will take reasonable steps to minimise the impact and communicate relevant information where appropriate.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our business, website, products or applicable legal requirements.

The latest version will be published on this page with the relevant update date.

Changes will not remove or reduce rights that consumers have under applicable law.

21. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Any dispute will be dealt with in accordance with applicable South African law and the rights and remedies available to the parties.
